1. 6 Steps to a Morning Routine That Works!

Having a morning routine that excites you to wake up everyday is the idea. How you start your day sets the tone for everything that follows. Renew for Spring with these uplifting habits.

This is the exact daily routine I practice to help with feeling my best. It literally takes me 35 minutes and is the best thing I do for my mental health and self-care.

Believe me, I thought it was “woo-woo” the first time I heard about this kind of practice. But then I committed to trying it for a month. Just wait until you actually incorporate into your life for at least 30 days! You will be amazed how something so natural and low budget can help. You don’t have to be in a fancy location, just step outside your home and have direct contact with the earth.

Try to do it in this order for best results: After hydrating, (number 1), I actually combine numbers 2, 3, and 6 all at once. Then I will go for a walk, (number 4), and finally I will complete number 5.

4. Reconnect with Nature to Reduce Stress

Spring’s beauty invites us to step outside and immerse ourselves in nature. This connection can lower stress, boost mood, and enhance overall well-being. It doesn’t have to be a special place to walk in nature. Try starting with your own neighborhood to renew for spring.

  • Take A Nature Walk: Even 20 minutes outdoors can reduce cortisol levels and improve mental clarity. Choose parks or trails that let you experience the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and fresh greenery. Each day choose an object or color to will keep your eye out for on your walk. This will help you stay focused on the task, and not get lost or distracted in thoughts. Count the number of those objects and recite poems about them. This is an example of dual tasking. Studies show that dual-tasking , even though it can slow walking, can be beneficial for brain health, improving cognitive function and memory by stimulating multiple brain regions at the same time.
  • Bring Nature Indoors: Find an stick, stone, plant cutting, or other natural object on your walks and bring them into your home. Set them on a special place to admire. Research tells us that there are remarkable benefits to our wellbeing when we incorporate nature indoors. For example: reduced anxiety, increased creativity, feeling of belonging, improved air quality, and more.
  • Start a Garden: Whether it’s a small herb garden in pots, or a backyard vegetable patch, gardening provides physical activity and a sense of accomplishment. Plus, the most obvious reward is you can eat seasonal foods!

I just started a small, backyard raised garden. I have to tell you that even though it was physical work initially, I have fallen in love with the routine of watering it, and connecting with nature each day. It has done wonders for my mental well being. Here are the cucumber plants climbing a DIY trellis in my raised garden.
